Wal-Mart Donates $1.5 Million for Sustainability Research
GreenBiz News profiles Wal-Mart’s $1.5 million donation to the University of Arkansas to fund research on carbon reduction and sustainable agriculture.
Last year, the Chronicle of Philanthorpy recognized Wal-Mart as the largest corporate cash contributor in America with over $270 million donated from the Wal-Mart Foundation.
The contribution will be given to the University of Arkansas’ Applied Sustainability Center, part of the Sam M. Walton College of Business (named after Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton). The Center was officially approved by the University in February, and has been associated with Wal-Mart for several months now. Wal-Mart is headquartered in nearby Bentonville, Arkansas.
