New Study Finds 3.9 Million Americans Telecommute

Associated Content features the results of a study by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), which found that nearly four million Americans work from home with the assistance of electronics.

The study goes on to say that the amount of energy saved by these workers staying off the roads is equivalent to the energy used by one million American homes per year. The reduction in gas consumption amounts to over 840 million gallons per year, while reduction in carbon emissions is 14 million tons.

Earth 911 fully endorses a policy of telecommuting, and has several employees who telecommute at least one day per week. For more resources on the environmental benefits of electronics, visit the CEA website.
