Water Company Considers Using Wind Turbines to Reduce Emissions

Australian Broadcasting Corporation features the latest news from Melbourne Water, which is looking to install wind turbines in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

However, one of the considered sites for the turbines is a bird sanctuary. Melbourne Water officials claim they will investigate the environmental ramifications of each site before moving forward.

Wind turbines take kinetic energy from wind and turn it into mechanical energy, which in turn reduces the amount of non-sustainable energy Melbourne Water will have to consume. For more on energy, visit Earth 911’s Energy page.
