AF&PA Launches Recycling Awards
WASHINGTON, DC – Today the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) announced that entry forms for the 2008 AF&PA Recycling Awards are available at www.paperrecyclingawards.org.
In 2008, AF&PA will again recognize outstanding business, community, school-wide, and university paper recycling efforts. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2008.
Thanks to the dedication of millions of Americans who recycle on a daily basis, a record 53.4 percent (53.5 million tons) of the paper consumed in the U.S. was recovered for recycling in 2006. While this is a significant achievement, the industry has set a goal to recover 55 percent by 2012. Reaching 55 percent recovery will require the kind of commitment and dedication highlighted in the AF&PA Recycling Award winning programs.
AF&PA Recycling Award winners will be flown to New York City to receive a monetary prize and a piece of original paper art, during AF&PA’s 131st Annual Paper Week. In addition, winners will be featured in national and local media outlets and on www.paperrecycles.org.
Individuals engaged in successful business, community, school-wide and university paper recycling programs are encouraged to apply for one of the following:
- AF&PA Business Leadership Recycling Award
- AF&PA Community Recycling Award
- AF&PA School-Wide (K-12) Recycling Award
- AF&PA College & University Recycling Award
