Recycle Bins are Coming to Charlottesville Mall
The Charlottesville Daily Progress reports that the city’s Downtown Mall will install recycling bins for aluminum cans, glass and plastic bottles starting in March.
The city will be placing 16 to 24 bins at intersections next to the mall, which will be picked up daily and recycled by Allied Waste. Charlottesville is planning to have similar bins and pick-ups at every park, swimming pool and recreation center by the end of 2008.
Charlottesville is considering the passage of a recycling rate goal of 50 percent, and the city is currently at 25 percent. For more on the benefits of recycling, visit Earth 911’s Recycling page.
