Lee Businesses Now Required to Recycle
NBC2 News reports that businesses in Lee County, Florida are now required to recycle steel and office paper under a new law that went into effect at the beginning of 2008.
County officials say that the new law will eventually reduce the cost of recycling, as well as the cost of manufacturing products in the first place. Nearby Collier County has required businesses to recycle since 2004.
The law will also affect apartment buildings and condos, with anyone who fails to participate in recycling being fined.
Florida is not the only state to crack down on recycling in 2008, as North Carolina is requiring businesses that serve alcohol to recycle glass bottles and aluminum cans. For more business recycling resources, visit Earth 911’s Business site.
