Pennsylvania Waste Hauler Offers Free Recycling

The Altoona Mirror reports that starting February 1, Bedford County will offer curbside recycling as part of its trash pick-up, as the county currently relies on a volunteer-run recycling drop-off center.

Burgmeier Hauling, which handles Bedford’s trash collection, has purchased two new trucks that are equipped with recycling compartments. The state was denied several recycling grants for containers; Pennsylvania recently offered $20 million in grants for county recycling programs.

Bedford representatives say that recycling paper are most beneficial to the county because the profits from these materials offset costs of recycling.
