Rachel Carson Sense of Wonder Intergenerational Poetry, Essay and Photography Contest

The second annual Rachel Carson Sense of Wonder Contest allows students to share a sense of wonder about nature with adults through creative means.

Named for Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring and considered the founder of the contemporary environmental movement, intergenerational teams should attempt to best express the “Sense of Wonder” they feel when observing nature through poetry, an essay or photography.

  • The deadline for entries is June 16
  • A panel of expert judges will select finalists
  • The winners in each category will be determined by the public through online voting in July and August
  • Winners will be announced during Children’s Health month in October
