Recreational Water Illness Prevention Week
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has designated the week before Memorial Day weekend to be Recreational Water Illness Prevention Week. This year, it will run from May 19-25.
The goal is to encourage healthy swimming behavior, such as not swallowing recreational water and showering before and after entering the water.
The CDC has compiled resources including a FAQ section, a glossary of terms, a toolkit and documents highlighting safe water behavior. For more water resources, visit Earth 911’s sister site Beaches 911.
