Beaches Open for 95 Percent of 2007
The EPA has released its 2007 Swimming Season Update, which showed a drop in beach closures over 2006 and a vast majority (over 94 percent) of closures resulting in less than a week.
Almost $10 million will be earmarked for beach water monitoring this year. Over 3,600 beaches are monitored from 30 states with coast and Great Lake access, as well as five U.S. territories.
Want to help prevent your local beach from closing? One of the top reasons for closures is contamination from Earth 911’s recycling locator to keep them out of our beach water.
