Iowa Company Helps Tornado Victims Recycle Damaged Goods
The May 25 tornado in Parkersburg, Iowa left in its path hundreds of broken appliances, some very large items such as refrigerators. As many residents work to reorganize their lives, Fellmer Motors Inc. has donated its employees and trucks to haul these appliances to its recycling center, reports the WCF Courier.
“We’ve seen everything from microwaves to water heaters to furnaces to air conditioners to dehumidifiers to refrigerators,” owner John Fellmer told the Courier.
The appliances are coming in so quickly and in so great a number, the company will have to begin stockpiling. The goal right now is just to get everything cleaned up and out of Parkersburg, Fellmer said.
The company will continue free pick-up until the end of July.
These large appliances can be recycled for their recycle appliances in your area using Earth 911’s recycling locator.
