Northern Virginia Recycling Rates Nearly Double

The partnership of RecycleBank and AAA Recycling and Trash Removal Services of Fairfax, Va. has proven extremely successful, reports Business Wire.

Residential recycling rates have increased by 90 percent after the implementation of the RecycleBank program, which offers participants rewards for recycling. Households receive points depending on the weight of their recyclables. These points can be redeemed for savings at more than 450 national and local partners, including Coca-Cola, Kraft Foods and CVS/pharmacy.

“The RecycleBank program has been absolutely fantastic for our community and was frankly long overdue. We were conscientious before, but now that we have the program we’ve increased our household recycling tremendously and use our rewards points for useful everyday purchases,” Peter Brownell, RecycleBank Member and AAA Customer, told Business Wire.

RecycleBank is growing in popularity and recently partnered with Allied Waste, the second-largest waste management company in the U.S.
