Recycle Ski Equipment for Free in Colorado
Labor Day is the beginning of ski and snowboard sales season in Colorado, a new recycling and reuse program by Colorado Ski & Golf is aiming to keep obsolete ski accessories out of landfills.
Regardless of whether you make a purchase, the company’s five SKI REX locations in the Rocky Mountain area will accept skis, snowboards, bindings, boots and poles free of charge.
- If they are in working condition, the equipment will be donated to charitable ski programs
- Non-reusable equipment will be shredded at a facility south of Denver to make products like decking and furniture
The program is funded by a fee on any new purchases, $5 for skis and snowboards and $3 for boots. Shoppers will be able to opt out of the donation.
You can use Earth911 to find locations to donate your old sporting equipment.

Recycling skiing equipment in these ways sounds like a great idea. I haven’t heard of recycling items such as skiing equipment and making it into garden decking and furniture before. It would be great to see what it looks like once complete. Unfortunately due to living in England and the lack of snow I don’t have any skiing equipment to recycle.

My name is Adrienne. My family and I love to ski. My husband and I are working on a new venture involving recycled skis and other winter sports equipment. We are looking for old, out-of-date, used, and even broken skis, snowboards, and snowshoes to repurpose, resuse, and recyle. If you currently throwing out any or all of these items, please consider giving them to us. It is a win-win situation for you, us, and the landfills. We are located in the North East. If you are located somewhere in the northeast, we will make the necessary arrangements to pick up whatever you no longer can sell or lease. Please contact us at GOTSKIS@yahoo.com if you are interested in GOING GREEN (even though the white stuff is our favorite!).
Regards
