Microsoft Headquarters Cuts Waste in Half Through Recycling Program

The Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Wash. has a new waste management program that is expected to cut its employee-generated waste in half.

The plan revolves around three key steps:

  1. Expanding recycling efforts to cover all metal containers
  2. Composting of not only organic food, but also kitchen materials like food containers and flatware
  3. Shipping used fryer oil from kitchens and cafes to biodiesel refineries
