The City of Indian Wells is indeed collecting Plastic Bags! The plastic bags are then being collected by a local Food Distribution organization: Hidden Harvest, Inc. This organization's clients use these bags for the fresh healthy produce that they pick up weekly. The plastic bags therefore, are reused!
The supermarkets in the area also collect plastic bags as required by the California Integrated Waste Management Board. The desitnation for those bags is unknown.
