Reconnect Adds Over 300 Texas Locations

The Reconnect program, a free computer recycling service provided by Dell and Goodwill Industries, recently added 319 drop-off locations throughout Texas and Shreveport, La. With todays launch, Reconnect offers 955 drop-off locations for free computer recycling to consumers in several U.S. markets.

As the fifth state to launch a statewide Reconnect program, the expansion comes after the first location was launched in central Texas in 2004. The Texas program joins other statewide collections in New York, Virginia, New Jersey and North Carolina, as well as many regional programs.

Reconnect Texas aims to divert 11.5 million pounds of used computers and accessories from landfills over the next year.  Any brand of computer or computer equipment is accepted at the new locations, and consumers are responsible for removing data from any hard drives and storage data.

In 2007, Dell collected over 102 million pounds of equipment from its customers.
