Reconnect Adds Over 300 Texas Locations
The Reconnect program, a free computer recycling service provided by Dell and Goodwill Industries, recently added 319 drop-off locations throughout Texas and Shreveport, La. With today’s launch, Reconnect offers 955 drop-off locations for free computer recycling to consumers in several U.S. markets.
As the fifth state to launch a statewide Reconnect program, the expansion comes after the first location was launched in central Texas in 2004. The Texas program joins other statewide collections in New York, Virginia, New Jersey and North Carolina, as well as many regional programs.
Reconnect Texas aims to divert 11.5 million pounds of used computers and accessories from landfills over the next year. Any brand of computer or computer equipment is accepted at the new locations, and consumers are responsible for removing data from any hard drives and storage data.
In 2007, Dell collected over 102 million pounds of equipment from its customers.

What is going on, or not going on? In the 70s we started recycling in Dallas, and even in the 90s Dallas County expanded their program to all homes. I live in a west Texas city now, and there’s no mention of recycling.
