Post-Thanksgiving Cooking Oil To Be Recycled In CO

Colorado residents will have the opportunity to give turkey-fryer oil a new life on Nov. 29 at the Holiday recycOil event hosted by The Rocky Mountain Sustainable Enterprises (RMSE).

Oil may be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at any of the 12 locations throughout the Front Range area.

Last year’s event diverted nearly 2,000 gallons of used cooking oil. It was recycled into a variety of substances, including biodiesel.

Some tips and guidelines:

  • Bring the cooking oil in a resealable container such as a coffee can, milk jug, bucket with a lid or Tupperware
  • The program accepts only food and vegetable-based oils. Motor vehicle or petroleum-based oils will not be accepted
  • Holiday recycOil is reserved for individual and residential users. Restaurants interested in recycling their used cooking oil should contact RMSE at (303) 544-1500 to set up commercial service.

RMSE is a leader in sustainable biofuels production, nutrient cycling, agricultural fertility enhancement, carbon sequestration and emerging biorefining technology integration. The company is based in Boulder, Colo.
