Get the New Earth911.com Recycling Search Widget!

It’s new, it’s improved and it’s easy to put on your Web site or blog! With the recent release of Earth911.com’s Local Recycling Widget, Web developers and designers everywhere can provide local recycling information directly through their sites. We’re not trying to brag, but we think the widget is pretty cool. Check it out for yourself!

Once integrated, visitors to your site will be able to search more than 100,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada to recycle over 170 different products.

“Oftentimes, consumers don’t even realize a product is recyclable until they see it mentioned in an environmental context,” said Earth911.com Executive Vice President Jonathan Smith. “With Earth911.com’s recycling widget, we’ve given developers the power to provide recycling information to their users at no charge, even if their site doesn’t relate to the environment.”

The widget provides an avenue for this information to be seen outside of the “green” sphere, through everything from personal blogs to MySpace pages. Key features include:

  • Simple-to-use JavaScript format for easy implementation – even for beginning designers and bloggers
  • Customizable design to reflect the colors and styles of your site
  • The ability to cater recycling information toward the site’s content. For example, a blog focusing on car care can auto-populate the widget to search for locations that accept “used motor oil” or “car batteries”
  • Once visitors enter their locations, the widget automatically remembers it when they return

The Earth911.com recycling search engine already powers green media including MSN Green and National Geographic, in addition to environmental organizations like Keep America Beautiful and the National Recycling Coalition.

Great widget! But I found a bug in it. I live in Webster, TX, 77598. When I enter “Webster TX” the information is accurate, but when I enter “77598″ the information is different and shifts to locations in “Houston TX” as far away as 25 miles. PLEASE tell whomever you can to take a look at this. I want this widget to work SO MUCH.
