EPA Partners with Boys and Girls Club for Earth Day 2009
U.S. EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson kicked off Earth Day on April 18 with two new EPA partnerships that will focus on public service. The EPA will team up with Boys and Girls Clubs of America and with PTO Today. The partnerships are a part of the 2009 Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR campaign.

EPA’s ENERGY STAR program and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America are creating a series of community service projects promoting global warming awareness for young people across the country.
Local chapters will participate in informing and educating their local communities on how to save energy and the environment with simple changes in everyday life. According to the EPA, Boys and Girls Clubs across the U.S. will have completed more than 60 energy efficiency community service projects by Earth Day 2010.
EPA’s partnership with ENERGY STAR and PTO Today will host a series of themed events designed to teach parents and kids about environmental stewardship and energy efficiency in 6,000 schools across the U.S. The event will promote “thinking green” and will also include a “Go Green Night.”
The 2009 Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR campaign is an effort to support the idea of making small changes in your local community.
You can get involved with the campaign by taking the ENERGY STAR Pledge to fight global warming through improving energy efficiency at home. So far, more than two million Americans have already taken the pledge to fight global warming.
