Threadless Wants to See Your Green
After the success of its “Threadless Loves Green” design challenge, the t-shirt company is launching two more challenges to show off your green. The first program, “Buy a Tree, Plant a Tree,” was launched on April 20 in celebration of Earth Day. All 13 of Threadless’ new t-shirts this week are green-themed and eco-friendly. For every t-shirt that’s purchased April 20-27, Threadless will donate $1 (the amount to plant one tree) to the Plant a Billion Trees Charity. So, if 20,000 t-shirts are sold, then 20,000 trees will be planted.

Threadless’ second program, “Show Us Your Green,” will utilize the company’s growing number of Facebook fans and Twitter followers to leverage environmental causes. With more than 53,000 Facebook fans and 327,000 followers on Twitter, Threadless has a big audience. “Show Us Your Green” wants to catch you in an eco-friendly activity.
The contest asks for photo submissions via Flickr and Facebook. After you submit your photo, Threadless asks you to spread the word by retweeting, tagging and promoting. Are you interested? Get moving, and snap those pictures. Here’s what you need to do to submit to the contest:
1. Take a photo of yourself doing something GREEN!
2. Post your photo online with these options:
- Host it yourself (or use Flickr or Twitpic) and tweet @Threadless with hashtag #tees4trees and a link
- Host it yourself (or use Flickr or Twitpic) and post a link on the Threadless news post
- Post it to the Threadless Facebook fan page
3. Tell all of your friends! Retweet it, tag your friends on Flickr and Facebook.
On April 27, Threadless will pick its favorite photo (based on content, captions and comments), and the winner will split a penny per fan/follower with Plant a Billion Trees.
