Six Flags Takes a Green Ride
Six Flags announced it will undergo a company-wide green pilot program to reduce its overall impact on the environment, starting with four of its theme parks.
“Six Flags is taking aggressive steps to help protect and preserve the environment for future generations,” says Six Flags President and CEO Mark Shapiro. “These programs will help safeguard the planet and create lasting partnerships with the communities where we live and work.”

The new changes to the theme parks will include:
- The installation of low-flow, high-efficiency water fixtures throughout the parks
- The purchase of fuel-efficient vehicles to replace older models
- The use of water saving plants and ground cover at all parks
- Paper recycling programs at all parks
In addition, all vehicles and trains will operate on recycled vegetable oil that is generated in Six Flags’ kitchens. The park will also reduce its emissions by using LED lamps and lights throughout the facilities.
But this isn’t the first green move Six Flags is making. The park is already a recycling hub with more than 3,000 recycling bins provided by Coca-Cola.
Its newest plans will not only improve its waste-handling capabilities, but it will also protect watersheds and ecosystems throughout its parks.
