Earth 911 Coordinator FAQ
Question: How many recycling locations and services does Earth 911 currently have in its database?
Answer: Earth 911 maintains a (growing) database of over 74,000 recycling facilities and programs, representing the recycling services of over 400,000 products. Products range from bottles and cans to used motor oil to household hazardous waste (HHW).
Question: What are some of the benefits of being affiliated with the Earth 911 environmental network?
Answer: Earth 911 is the #1 search result on Google for the term “recycle” and is linked to over 100,000 websites. The Earth 911 logo and URL are on the back of over five billion consumer products.
In 2007 alone, Earth 911 was featured on ABC News, Good Morning America and Oprah. To see a full list of Earth 911 media coverage, visit our newsroom.
Earth 911 also recently began offering its content and recycling locator box on media websites, as well as through its partnerships with media outlets like G4 Television and Cox newspapers.
Question: How often should I update my community’s information in the Earth 911 database?
Answer: Earth 911 recommends updating information once a month to ensure that any new/terminated facilities and services are up-to-date. Earth 911′s recycling locator box relies on third party information to ensure its accuracy, and out-of-date information will inhibit would-be recyclers from doing their part.
Question: What should I do to change my coordinator’s information?
Answer: For any changes to your contact information, please make changes in your coordinator account. Updated coordinator information is important as Earth 911 sends out monthly correspondence to its coordinators.
Question: I have a lot of locations. Is there some way to get them into your system faster?
Answer: Absolutely! For communities with a large number of similar locations (more than 15-20) we can provide a spreadsheet for you to fill out providing all the pertinent information and we can electronically import it into our data base. Then all you have to do is modify the information when it changes and resend the spreadsheet. We can also help you input the information directly into the system.
Question: I know of a coordinator/community that is not currently represented in the Earth 911 database. How can I get them signed up?
Answer: Email us with the name of the coordinator, the county name and his/her email address and we will take care of the rest.
Question: The existing user interface is confusing and hard to use. What is Earth 911 doing to improve that?
Answer: You will be pleased to know that with the new look and functionality of the Earth 911 Web site, the User Interface is due for a complete overhaul as well. It will be a lot more user friendly to make it easy to input and update your information.
