Wooden pallets aren’t usually given much thought. They are the unsung hero of supplying our daily needs. They’re the sturdy structural support that allows everything from boxes and bags of food to appliances and bags of compost to be easily delivered to stores and shops across the country.
What happens to them when the merchandise has been delivered, though?
All too often, wooden pallets find their way into trash heaps and landfills. Yet the beauty of their wooden slats, perfectly measured pieces of rough hewn wood that are the sustainable basis of great design, is often overlooked.
Amanda Walton, the owner of Revamped and Revived, rescues wooden pallets from her home in southern Maine and, with an artist’s eye, transforms them into eco-friendly pieces of décor.
“I love old world meets new world with a rustic, vintage and modern charm,” Walton said. “I thoroughly enjoy creating these pieces and it’s truly rewarding to see my art work in someone’s home or office space.”
“Every piece I make has its own character.” Walton goes on to explain that “every reclaimed wooden pallet is different due to the wood grain, knots and coloring.”
So when you purchase an item from Revamped and Revived, you truly are getting a one-of-a-kind work of art. Each piece is embellished with hooks, metal work or paint to create statement pieces. Pieces of art are made to order.
One such custom piece of functional art is The Original Pallet Wine Rack with Rope. Made from a recycled pallet, the wall decor will be created upon order, allowing for a choice of stain color to match décor. It’s the perfect way to display bottles of wine, stacks of books, or family photos.
