How do I recycle an old mercury thermometer?

I just talked to the guy at this facility and they only take computer recycling, no other hazardous waste materials (we were able to go in and correct the system)

I am trying to find out what to do with everday batteries (AA, AAA, etc.) I have a lot of them because I didn’t want to throw them in the trash but I don’t know where to take them. Please help. I live in Springfield, Illinois.

    Regarding the AAA batteries,according to the South African Eveready Battery Website, the zinc and Manganese contained in these batteries are good for the soil and are recommended for landfill.
