NBC Universal to Show Weeklong Green Programming in November

NBC, the network that broadcast this month’s Live Earth concerts, has announced a week of programming from November 4-10 that will be branded “Green is Universal.” It will be the first initiative of the newly formed NBCU Green Council, and seek to educate viewers on their impact on the environment.

“The NBCU Green Council was unveiled May 24th as part of NBCU’s “Get On Board” – a comprehensive, companywide program to improve the environmental impact of its operations by reducing greenhouse gases, raising awareness about green issues, and stimulating change in the media and entertainment industry.”

The “Green is Universal” week will feature environmentally-friendly messages in NBC’s entertainment, news and sports programming. It will also affect programming of NBC Universal owned stations including Bravo, CNBC, The Sundance Channel and USA. The campaign will even affect Universal Pictures and the Universal Studios theme parks in Florida and Hollywood.
