Johnson Space Center Daycare Goes Green

This Houston Business Journal profiles the new renewable energy system to be installed at a Johnson Space Center daycare facility in Houston, which will be the center’s first undertaking at going green. The daycare facility will also serve as a pilot program for developing more renewable energy in the center.

“NASA requested that the facility demonstrate a variety of different technologies, such as solar, wind and solar domestic hot water. Using these technologies will provide educational opportunities and create a framework for future renewable energy systems at the space center, Sacred Power officials said.”

The space program also made environmental news last week for dumping 1,600 tons of junk into the Earth’s atmosphere. A daycare center is a smart place to start going green though, because not only do children expend a lot of energy, but they provide an ideal audience for potential education on green resources.
