New Poll Shows Online Bills Save 16.5 Million Trees Per Year

This USATODAY.com story discusses the results of a poll conducted by Javelin Strategy and Research on online bill paying. Javelin claims that if every U.S. household paid bills online, it would save 16.5 million trees per year.

“Only 15% of households surveyed said they received their bank or credit union checking account statement ‘only online,’ and only 11% said they had eliminated paper delivery of their primary credit card bill.”

Those 16.5 million trees are just used on bills, and the poll only took into account American households. Just think for a minute what percentage of your daily mail actually falls under the “bill” category.

    It is a good news for all of us. Online billing could be very useful. It eliminates the use of paper bills that means according to the article, it saves 16.5 million trees. But there should be consideration that will be made for those who don’t have pc’s on their own that can’t adopt the online billing.
