Searches for Fuel-Efficient Vehicles Slow as Gas Prices Lower

CNN Money reports that Cars.com showed significant consumer decrease in interest for fuel-efficient cars in July. Perhaps not coincidentally, July also saw a drop in gas prices from $3.04 per gallon (87 octane) mid-month to $2.88 per gallon on July 30.

“‘As gas prices decline, we are starting to see people searching for crossover vehicles and some SUVs,’ said Patrick Olsen, managing editor of Cars.com. ‘ We have yet to see a sustained movement away from gas-guzzlers.’”

The site also showed an increase in interest for crossover-vehicles, which tend to get comparablly good gas mileage to station wagons and sedans. This news also comes as recent new car sales are down for all models.
