New Online Resource Launched to Recycle Farm Waste

Solanco News in Pennsylvania reports that a new website has been formed for Pennsylvania farmers to reuse their manure. The new site is called Manure Trader.

Manure Trader allows both people who want and need manure in Pennsylvania to post their information online, including manure type, quantity, frequency of availability and geographic location.

“Despite its classification as ‘waste,’ manure actually has a number of uses. Manure Trader creates opportunities for traditional farmer-to-farmer exchanges for crop fertilization as well as opportunities to encourage innovative manure uses as varied as soil reclamation, algae production, and even building materials.”

The idea was developed in the mold of Pennsylvania’s Material Trader, which provides similar information for people to reuse anything from electronics to plywood.

Not only can manure be reused as fertilizer for farmers, but research is being developed to see if manure can play a role in creating alternative energy.
