Colleges Pitching in to Recycle Waste on Area Campuses

The Spartanburg Herald-Journal profiles recycling efforts by colleges in South Carolina, which receive grants from the state Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) to build new recycling programs or improve existing ones. SurfAid Launches Earthquake Appeal for Mentawai Islanders

SurfAid International is promoting a new campaign to help the 70,000 displaced villagers from last week's earthquakes in Indonesia. The two earthquakes measured 8.4 and 7.9 and ended up damaging everything from houses to schools to churches. Guam School Recycling Bin Filled in One Day

The Pacific Daily News writes about a new program in Guam that promotes recycling aluminum in schools. The "I-Recycle" program started on September 6, and provides cash incentives to 40 schools that fill up their bins. NanoLogix Develops Hydrogen Energy from Welch’s Wastewater

The energy generated was enough to light up multiple strings of 100-watt light bulbs.
