The Fourth ‘R’—Race to Recycle the Fastest

The Rochester Post-Bulletin features highlights from yesterday’s Southgate Elementary School fundraiser, “Gators Go Green,” which had all of its activities focused around recycling, reduction and reuse.

One of the event highlights was the Recycle Relay, where students raced pieces of paper and plastic bottles across the room to deposit them in a recycling bin. The day also featured environmental trivia and general knowledge building about the three R’s.

The goal of the event was to raise $12,000, which would be invested in the students via field trips and supplies. Earth 911 has an extensive Just for Kids section that has more student activities.
