EPEAT Hands Out Green Electronics Champion Awards

Environmental Leader reports on the winners of this year’s Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Green Electronics Champion Awards, which included the city of San Jose, Kaiser Permanente, the California Integrated Waste Management Board and Department of General Services, McKesson Corporation and the city of Phoenix.

These organizations purchased almost 100,000 computers that are EPEAT-registered, saving 4,800 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. That is enough energy to power 5,400 homes.

EPEAT is operated by the Green Electronics Council, and ranks computers and monitors based on their environmental attributes. These rankings take into account details like material and design, packaging and energy conservation of the products.
