Schwegler Going Environmentally Friendly in Fundraiser for PTA

LJWorld.com profiles the newest fundraiser by Schweiger School in Kansas: selling energy-efficient compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) and compost bags to raise money for PTA-sponsored events.

The fundraiser coincides with Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius encouraging residents to change at least one bulb in their homes to a more energy-efficient CFL, because it will save both energy and money.

A four-pack of bulbs will cost $12 while a 30-gallon compost bag will be $4. Earth 911 would like to remind anyone purchasing CFLs that these bulbs contain small traces of mercury, so they need to be disposed of carefully.
