HolidayLEDs.com Offers Free Holiday Light Recycling Program
If you’ve just plugged in a set of holiday lights and realize they no longer work, don’t throw them in the garbage; a Michigan company is offering to recycle them for you free of charge.
HolidayLEDs.com will accept your old incandescent Christmas lights, which will then be recycled. As a promotion of the program, participants will receive a 15 percent off coupon to use on any purchases made on HolidayLEDs.com. Be sure to ask neighbors and friends if they want to recycle their lights as well. You can reduce waste and shipping costs by sending all lights in one package.
HolidayLEDs.com estimates that 15 million sets of Christmas lights were purchased in America just last year. They are often treated as disposable products, resulting in excess waste.
LED Christmas lights use 80 to 99 percent less energy than standard incandescent lights and can last for more than 50,000 hours. This means that they do not need to be replaced very often and will last for many years. LED mini lights are also much safer for home use because they operate at only one degree above ambient temperature.
Anyone interested in recycling their old holiday lights should mail them to:

It should be noted that HolidayLEDs lights use leaded PVC. http://www.holidayleds.com/faq#n803
