Even a Recycle Center No Place to Leave Litter

The Maui News reports that a temporary recycling center in Kihei is seeing lots of recyclables, as well as litter, despite many residents still not knowing that the site exists.

The temporary site is open seven days a week and takes in cardboard, newspaper, glass, plastic bottles, plastic bags and aluminum cans. Center officials say that since Thanksgiving, bins have been filling up quickly, but there’s also an appearance of trash on the site.

The Kihei site is being used for recycling while a new site is being built in Maui. For more information, visit the Maui County recycling Web site. To find a recycling center in your area, type in what you want to recycle and your zip code in the search bar at the top of this page.
