Austin Hopes To Go Zero Waste By 2040

Environmental Leader reports that Austin, Texas is aiming to reduce its trash output by 20 percent by 2012, eventually reaching zero waste by the year 2040.

This will be accomplished through a green bank.

Austin currently has a recycling rate around 30 percent, and is developing discussing the idea of zero waste since as early as 2002.
