International Paper Tops List Of Socially Responsible Companies

Environmental Leader reports on Fortune‘s list of the most socially responsible companies for 2008, topped this year by International Paper.

International Paper was voted eighth in the 2007 list, and ranked first in the forest and paper products industry for all categories, including quality of product.

Other companies on the socially responsible list included UPS, Starbucks, Fortune Brands, Walt Disney, McDonald’s, Medco Health Solutions, Herman Miller, Weyerhaeuser and Union Pacific. The least ranked company was Constellation Brands.

The socially responsible category was one of eight different areas where corporations were judged. Fortune 1000 companies were broken into 64 industry types and the 10 largest of each industry were evaluated.
