Whole Foods in NYC to Sell Organic Reusable Bags

At 16 Whole Foods Market stores in New York City, northern New Jersey and Southern Connecticut, you can now purchase 100 percent organic cotton reusable shopping bags with a portion of the sales proceeds benefiting MillionTreesNYC.

Whole Foods BagThe bags will be sold throughout April for $11.99, with $1 per bag donated to plant and care for one million new trees in New York over the next decade.

The bags were developed in partnership with NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing and tourism organization.

April also marks Whole Foods Market’s nationwide goal to stop using plastic grocery bags at checkout by Earth Day.

After Earth Day, customers will be given recycled paper bags and encouraged to use their own bags for future shopping.
