World Series of Poker Debuts Sustainable Table

Winning some green will take on a whole new meaning at this year’s World Series of Poker, as the winner will take home (in addition to prize money) a poker table made of 98 percent sustainable materials.

The table is manufactured by EGM Green, which is marketing the new tables to casinos in an attempt to reduce waste and the use of natural resources in manufacturing.

Some of the table’s eco-friendly features:

  • Materials are 100 percent pre-consumer recycled content
  • Wood is Forestry Stewardship Council certified
  • Paints are free of formaldehyde

This year’s World Series of Poker will take place through July 16 at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
