Recyclers Rewarded with Baseball Tickets in N.C.
It’s not always easy to recycle in Henderson County, North Carolina. Residents have to “dodge truck traffic” at the landfill in order to arrive at the dusty gravel lot where lonely bins for cans, bottles and newspapers are waiting, according to the Times-News.
For those who make the extra effort to recycle, the county is randomly rewarding with tickets to an Asheville Tourists baseball game. Once a week, a representative will visit the site and give away four tickets per family. The weekly give-aways will continue until the end of August.
The county’s recently-hired recycling coordinator, Adrienne Outcalt said she gets daily calls from residents requesting the county make recycling easier.
County officials say they recognize that the conditions are “less than ideal,” and have promised to improve recycling programs.
