Green Plug: Product Stewardship for Power Supplies

A San Ramon, CA company, Green Plug, is developing a universal intelligent power supply that will communicate with devices, supply them only with the power they need, and eliminate the waste created by “phantom power.” This type of energy use (phantom power) is unnecessary power that is used when a device is left plugged in after being fully charged or a wall charger is left in the outlet with no device connected. Green Plug launched at Demo’08 in Palm Springs last April and won a Demo God award at that conference.

The company’s innovative green power components:

  • Allow manufacturers to standardize on a universal power connection
  • Meet and surpass current U.S. and European governmental efficiency regulations
  • Help eliminate environmental waste
