Saving Money with Shingles Recycling

Instead of adding to the pile at the landfill, old shingles will be recycled into paving asphalt for roads in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, reports the Post Crescent. Utility Company Experiments with Electric Trucks, Soy Fuels

Con Edison, the utility company that serves New York City, has announced that its 1,700 trucks will be running bio-diesel based on soy, and that 50 of its trucks will be replaced by hybrids this year. Earth 911 Doubles CFL Results with Home Depot Locations

Restaurants to Convert Used Oil into Biodiesel Fuel

Libby Hill Seafood and Patriot Biodiesel in North Carolina have partnered to convert used cooking oil from the restaurants into biodiesel fuel, reports MSNBC. The waste vegetable oil will be refined into B-100, which is pure biodiesel. The fuel will be used to power Libby Hill's six trucks. Organic Plastics Have a Future

Dow Chemical is planning to build an organic plastics plant in Brazil by 2011, reports Business Week. The secret ingredient of the non-petroleum based plastics? Sugar cane. OfficeMax Offers Recycled Paper at Self-Serve Copy Machines

Customers can now choose 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper when making self-serve copies at OfficeMax.
