Asheville, N.C. Baseball Team Promotes Recycling Through Free Tickets

The Asheville Tourists Class A baseball team has been promoting recycling and reuse throughout 2008 thanks to a partnership with Curbside Management Service. The team is now donating tickets for fans to “Get Caught Recycling” at the Stoney Mountain Transfer Station and receive free game admission at random.

The Transfer Station diverted only 2.5 percent of its trash last year, and is looking to increase the collection of recyclables. This Saturday, 150 tickets will be available for giveaway, with another 550 offered through August 30.

The Tourists are currently featuring:

  • In-stadium recycling for newsprint
  • Recycling of cooking oil used in concession stands
  • Special “Going Green” events at the ballpark, including a clothing donation night for Goodwill Industries on August 27
