A New Life For Recycled Paper, Plastic in Israel

The American Israeli Paper Mills Group (AIPM) has invented a pipe “almost as tough as steel” made with recycled The Jerusalem Post.

The pipe is composed of 60 to 70 percent recycled material and uses a newly discovered bonding agent which gives the material the resilience of paper fibers and the flexibility of plastic. The company itself is already using the pipes cores for its paper rolls, each of which weighs 20 tons.

AIMP is Israel’s largest supplier and recycler of paper goods. The company aims to increase Israel’s current paper recycling rate of 25 percent to 50 percent. There is also a need to recycle more plastic – the current rate is only 1.5 percent.
