National Mortgage Originator Launches Green Program

1st Metropolitan Mortgage, a national mortgage originator, committed to be more environmentally friendly through its new BrightGreen Mortgage program, according to Market Watch.

The company estimates that about 500 pieces of paper are used for every loan. To help lessen the impact, the program focuses on paper recycling, document scanning and e-signatures where allowable.  The use of recycled paper is encourages when paper cannot be eliminated.

Also:

  • The company will plant a new tree for each loan closed.
  • Consumers will have the opportunity to win a Toyota Prius hybrid during a six-month sweepstakes.
  • Participating branches will receive special training in how to make their location more eco-friendly.

The BrightGreen Mortgage is available for all loan types, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, Rural Development and Jumbo loans. Visit the program’s Web site for more information.
