Goodrich Facility Wins Environmental Excellence Award

Goodrich Corporation’s Landing Gear team in Tullahoma, Tenn., received the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (TCC&I) 2008 Top Environmental Excellence Award.

The facility in Tullahoma made significant improvements to reduce its environmental impact, including:

  • Reducing hazardous waste from 35,000 pounds a year to zero
  • Recycling over 1.3 million pounds of materials so far in 2008
  • Reducing water consumption by 100,000 gallons per year through recycling cooling tower water
  • Decreasing energy consumption by more than one million kilowatt hours per year

“Our team has been making significant efforts to make and keep our facility ‘green,’” said Brad Holt, plant manager. “And as we reduce our impact on the environment, we realize savings in utility consumption and waste disposal costs. Clearly, taking care of the environment makes good business sense.”

The TCC&I Top Environmental Excellence Award is presented annually to the company which demonstrates achievement in overall environmental protection, including solid and/or hazardous waste, air and water.
