TieTek LLC Hits One Million Mark

North American Technologies Group, Inc. (NAMG) recently announced that its subsidiary, TieTek LLC, a leader in composite railroad tie design and manufacturing, has now sold over one million railroad ties.  Composed of 85 percent recycled materials, these environmentally friendly ties have an average life span of over 40 years.

“The sale of more than 1,000,000 ties is proof that TieTek is committed to the production of quality composite ties,” said Rod Wallace, CEO of NAMC. “We feel that being environmentally sustainable is an integral part of our business.”

Composite ties save trees, use recycled materials and do not contain toxic preservatives.  Approximately 3,300 ties (enough for one mile of track) comprised of recycled plastic, rubber and waste fiberglass, utilize:

  • Two million plastic bottles
  • Nine million plastic bags
  • 10,000 scrap vehicle tires

The production of these ties also eliminates the need to cut down approximately 750 hardwood trees.
