Eco Gift Festival to Come to SoCal

The Eco Gift Festival is coming to Santa Monica, Calif., December 12-14.

A weekend of green shopping, organic food and innovative speakers and musicians, attendees are sure to find earth-friendly gifts for everyone on their holiday gift list.

To make the event as “green” as possible, a number of iniatives will be in place, such as:

  • Event signage is made with recyclable, reusable or biodegradable materials.
  • Event collateral is printed on a “green printer” with vegetable-based inks and recyclable paper.
  • Food sold at the event will be packaged in biodegradable, compostable food ware, and biodegradable cornstarch or potato plates and utensils are mandated.
  • Implementation of a carbon offsetting program will reduce emissions generated by equipment, heating/cooling, shipping and electricity.
  • Complimentary purified water is provided on-site and will be served in biodegradable cups to eliminate plastic water bottles.

In addition to these initiatives, Resource Recovery Stations will be placed throughout the facility to help divert 90 percent or more of the event’s waste from landfill. In fact, exhibitors will not receive wastebaskets in their booths to encourage participants to bring their waste to an RR Station, which will be hosted by a volunteer who will know which of your items is recyclable, compostable or needs to be landfilled.

Over 70 exhibitors from Arbonne International to The Soi Co. to Tom’s Shoes will be present to help you find all the presents you need. Additionally, well-known members of the green scene like Arianna Huffington (The Huffington Post), Linda Loudermilk, Bryan Welch and a number of musicians will speak and play throughout the weekend.
