At UNFCCC ‘Enormous Amount of Ground to Be Covered’

At the press conference reviewing the third day of deliberations for the the the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer stated that there is an “enormous amount of ground to be covered” in the following days of the Convention.

De Boer also noted that during workshops on cooperative international action against climate change throughout the day , developing nations are continuing to make”a strong call on industrial nations to show leadership.”

The U.S. still stands behind its commitment to reach a 20 percent reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions against 1990 levels by 2020, if other nations do so as well. The position of the United States continues to be an integral part in these negotiations, as many nations are counting on the U.S. to set an example for international GHG management.
