Earth911 has a new search tool that you can use anytime you’re online to quickly scour our database of over 100,000 recycling locations across the country. Have no fear: even obscure items like plastic #7, gypsum drywall and carpet padding are no match for our search.

If you have one of these browsers, you can use our new search tool to recycle to your heart’s content:

  • Mozilla Firefox – Version 2+
  • Internet Explorer – Version 7+
  • Google Chrome

Here’s how you do it:

  1. First, go to our website. Since you’re already here (reading this story), you’re done with Step 1. Congratulations, over-acheiver!
  2. Click the opensearch drop-down arrow on the upper-right side of your window. In other words: look at the address bar at the top of the screen. To its right, you will see a shorter bar with a down-arrow (see photo).
  3. Click the down arrow. You should see the words “Add ‘Earth911.com’” appear in the drop-down menu.
  4. Click that.
  5. Voila!

Now, anytime you want to do a quck recycling search, regardless of what website you’re currently browsing, you can select that tool from your search bar. Type in what you’re looking for and hit “enter.” That’s it! Easy as pie (or gypsum drywall).
